On July 5, 2011 the efforts of our local monsoon generated a haboob (commonly known as a duststorm). Typically they are 3-10 miles wide, but this one was over 30 miles wide and 20,000 feet tall. This haboob overcame the whole of South Mountain and swallowed the entire metropolitan Phoenix area. This time-lapse video shows it consuming the uptown Central Corridor one highrise at a time before engulfing my position. Enjoy!
After I shot a few stills I then shot this time-lapse video.
